# InsightSocial

> InsightSocial gives you public social media data two ways: a free Chrome extension that exports posts, comments, profiles and followers from 9 social platforms, and reviews from sites like Trustpilot and Google Maps, to Excel, and a developer API and hosted MCP server with public data from 25 platforms on one key. The extension covers Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Threads, YouTube, Reddit and Pinterest (posts, profiles, comments and follower data), no coding required. The API has 302 endpoints.

## Key facts

- Platforms: the Chrome extension scrapes 9 social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Threads, YouTube, Reddit and Pinterest) and the reviews or comments on 10 review and discussion sites (Trustpilot, Amazon, Steam, Product Hunt, Etsy, Google Maps, Hacker News, Quora, Blind and Notion); the developer API serves 25 (see Developer API below).
- How it works: a Chrome extension (Manifest V3, Chrome 114+) collects data from pages you are already signed in to. Rows sync to your own account and are exported from the web portal.
- Export formats: Google Sheets, CSV, Excel (.xlsx) and JSON, on every plan. Exporting happens in the web portal, not in the extension.
- Pricing: Free is $0 forever with 500 credits per month (1 credit = 1 exported row). Pro is $9.99/month, or $7.99/month billed yearly ($95.88/year), with 10,000 credits per month. Studio is $49/month: everything in Pro with 150,000 exported rows per month (API calls stay on Pro's 10,000). A one-time pack of 2,500 credits costs $8 and never expires.
- What is metered: one credit balance, spent two ways. Exports cost 1 credit per row (re-exporting a row you already paid for is free), and developer API calls cost a published per-endpoint price in credits (metered endpoints charge within a published range). Scraping with the extension and reading results in the dashboard are unlimited on every plan.
- Data history: 30 days on Free, 3 years on Pro.
- Pro-only features: Ask your data (chat with your scraped results), personalized DM openers, and contact enrichment.
- Background runs: a run keeps going when you switch to another tab or app, on every social platform. A few pages still need their tab in front (X search and hashtags, some LinkedIn single posts, Google Maps reviews), and the side panel says so before you start.
- Scheduled scrapes: on every plan. They fire from Chrome itself (Chrome alarms), so they need Chrome running; nothing runs while the browser is closed, and a turn missed by more than an hour is skipped.
- YouTube: comments and replies on videos and Shorts, and the video lists of a channel (Videos or Shorts tab), a search or your home feed.
- Developer API: yes, since September 2026. REST over HTTPS at https://api.insightsocial.app/v1, authenticated with an x-api-key header, covering 25 platforms: the extension's 9 plus Bluesky, Truth Social, Snapchat, Telegram, Twitch, Kick, Rumble, Kwai, Douyin, Xiaohongshu (RedNote), Quora, TikTok Shop, Weibo, Zhihu, Substack and Nextdoor (profiles, posts, comments, followers, search). Priced per endpoint in credits from the same balance as exports; the first 10 qualifying calls are free, and failed or empty calls cost nothing.
